Brief history of MOLISI and why it's a faith-based school
Mission of Love Integrated School, Inc. (MOLISI) is a faith-based school that was founded by Pastor Marissa F. Familara and two foreigner couples who shared the same burden of helping the Ati tribe on the beautiful island of Boracay. MOLISI started as a Day-Care Center and evolved into a Private School that aims to provide education to the Ati children who were discriminated against in overpopulated classrooms of Public Schools. The school continues to exist primarily for the Ati tribe and is focused on helping them and their children have a better future through education. MOLISI also accepts non-Ati pupils of the community, including some Muslim kids. The school is situated at the center of the island, a few minutes walk to the white beach, near shops, and easily accessible by the kids in the community. MOLISI provides Preschool and Elementary education, and their graduates in Grade 6 enroll at the Public High School until Senior High and from there, after graduation, they proceed to College of their career choice. MOLISI has a total enrollment of 128 pupils: 46 Ati kids and 82 non-Ati kids. MOLISI has 8 teachers and 5 staff. MOLISI is a Christian school with Bible integration, and the students are involved in the church fellowship, Boracay Gospel Center.

What is the role of Pastor Marissa F. Familara at MOLISI?
Pastor Marissa F. Familara is the co-founder and Principal of Mission of Love Integrated School, Inc. (MOLISI), a Christian school with Bible integration situated in the beautiful island of Boracay. She played a vital role in the establishment of the school, starting with a Daycare for Ati tribe children and eventually growing into a Preschool and Elementary School that also accepts non-Ati pupils. The school started due to the need to provide education for the underprivileged Ati kids and eventually extended to others in the community. Pastor Marissa is actively involved in the school's operations, such as supervising the staff and teachers, providing guidance, and raising funds for school operations, such as salaries, benefits, permits, and maintenance. She is also involved in the community through her church fellowship, Boracay Gospel Center.
-
Where is MOLISI located and why is the school based out of Pastor Marissa’s home?
MOLISI is located in the beautiful island of Boracay in the Philippines. The school is situated at the center of the island, near shops, and is easily accessible by the kids in the community. The school is in Pastor Marissa's home because they cannot afford the house rentals. It is a two-storey building with classrooms at the back extension. The office and two classrooms occupy the main building on the first floor, and Pastor Marissa's family occupies the second floor. Their church fellowship, Boracay Gospel Center, is also downstairs.

How many kids and how many teachers, Ati and non-Ati are there at MOLISI? When did the Ati kids start attending MOLISI?
The total enrollment of MOLISI as of this school year is 128 pupils, with 46 Ati kids and 82 non-Ati. The school has 8 teachers and 5 staff. The Ati kids started attending MOLISI when Pastor Marissa noticed their situation in overpopulated classrooms with around 50-60 kids, pulled them from that situation, and started a Private School by faith.
-
Is MOLISI strictly Elementary School? Where do the Ati kids go after Elementary and before College or University?
MOLISI is a Preschool and Elementary school. After graduating from MOLISI, the Ati kids attend public High School before going to College or University.
-
Why is it important to support the Ati kids to attend College or University?
Education has made a big difference in the lives of the Ati kids, as evidenced by MOLISI’s eight college students! Two of them will graduate this year with Bachelor of Criminology and BS Elementary Education, respectively. One of our graduates is currently teaching at a public school, while another one is pastoring her tribe on the mainland in Malay. Supporting the Ati kids to attend College or University is important because it will help break the cycle of poverty that has been perpetuated in their community for generations. Education provides them with the necessary skills and knowledge to access better employment opportunities and improve their quality of life. By investing in their education, we can ensure that they have a bright future not only for themselves, but also for their families and the community as a whole.
-
Why does MOLISI need help with funding? Is there government assistance available for the Ati and non-Ati kids?
MOLISI needs help with funding to continue its school operations. Their need for the school operations fund includes monthly salary of teachers and staff; their benefits like SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-ibig, electric/water, bills; school permits and representations; teachers training/seminars; 13th-month pay, and school renovations yearly. Government assistance they get: monthly 4 P's for those granted which they use to pay their bills or rice free high school tuition ( but we pay for other fees, uniforms, supplies) college tuition in public school (we pay for uniforms, food, lodging, supplies, allowance) those in private university have free food & lodging (we pay for their uniform, books, tuition, supplies, allowance)
-
What funding do you currently require to keep MOLISI operational?
To keep MOLISI operational, we currently require funding total / 1 year of PHP 1,976,868.75 [ ~ $36,355 USD on 04/04/23].
-
Do you have support coming from other donors?
There are other donors, but their assistance is focused on the daily needs of the Ati tribe. These donors provide some groceries monthly to the families; milk and vitamins for the babies, toddlers and widows. They also provide lunch for the pupils of Preschool and Elementary during school days. Also, they send medical and emergency fund for them. This year, they helped pay for the books of Preschool, Elementary and High school students. And have assisted also with the new chairs, etc. Our current funding need is for the school operations fund. That includes monthly salary of teachers and staff; their benefits like SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-ibig, electric/water, bills; school permits and representations; teachers training/ seminars; 13th month pay; and school renovations yearly. It takes a fortune to run a school, but God is faithful!
